Forward Zeb Knutson scored twice to lead Minnesota State to a 5-2 win over nonconference foe St. Cloud State on Hockey Day Minnesota 2018.
Connor Mackey scored less than two minutes into the game, before Knutson scored on the power play at 13:56 to make it 2-0 Mavericks. Jon Lizotte answered for the Huskies at 18:55 of the first, but Jake Jaremko answered at 6:14 of the second period.
Robby Jackson cut Minnesota State's lead to one goal a few seconds later, but Knutson scored his second at 15:00 of the third. C.J. Suess added an empty-netter to make it 5-2. Goaltender Connor LaCouvee made 28 saves to earn the win.
