Hamilton's 31 lead Oakland past South Dakota

VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) -- Reggie Hamilton scored 31 points and set the Summit League's single-season scoring record as Oakland defeated South Dakota 84-77 on Saturday night.

Hamilton surpassed the mark of North Dakota State's Ben Woodside, who scored 766 points in 2008-09. Hamilton has 790.

Travis Bader hit six of Oakland's 14 3-pointers and scored 21, while Drew Valentine had 13 points and 10 rebounds. The Golden Grizzlies (17-14, 11-7) have won five consecutive league games and finished third.

Charlie Westbrook led the Coyotes (10-18, 5-13) with 21 points, finishing with 1,009 for his career. Trevor Gruis had 18 points and 14 rebounds, Louie Krogman scored 17 and Jordan Boots had 10.

Krogman finished sixth in school history with 1,644 points.

Oakland, which swept the season series, trailed only once but never led by more than 10.

In their first year in the league, the Coyotes were ineligible for the postseason.
