ARLINGTON, Texas –€“ Josh Hamilton's return to the Texas Rangers lineup will start with a stop in Frisco Wednesday.

Hamilton, who hasn't played May 30 because of hamstring strain, will begin a rehab assignment with the RoughRiders Wednesday in hopes of joining the Rangers Monday for their series at Baltimore.

Hamilton would rather be with the Rangers right now but he knows that's probably not the best move.

"I feel good," he said. "Me personally would probably already like to be back tomorrow but we're going to Toronto playing on the turf so they slowed me down, which is smart and probably a blessing in disguise."

Hamilton has been taking batting practice for about a week and doing everything else to test the hamstring. He hasn't had any issues but he also hasn't played in a game. He'll likely spend most of his rehab stint at designated hitter because he needs to work on his timing more than his defense.

Hamilton doesn't plan on changing the way he plays either.

"Once you do something like that (the hamstring injury) and you go through all the strengthening stuff you're usually a little better than you started because you specifically focus on that one deal, on that one thing, the hamstring," he said. "I'm not going to have it in my mind do less of anything. I'm going to take less swings at time (in batting practice) but other than that be myself."
