ARLINGTON, Texas – Before the Texas Rangers and Kansas City Royals played Sunday, a little history was revisited.

The final game in 1993 pitted the Rangers and the Royals and before that game, Nolan Ryan and George Brett brought the lineup cards to home plate. It marked the final games in uniform for both as five years later they were in the Hall of Fame.

Both Brett, who is now the interim hitting coach for Kansas City, and Ryan took the lineup cards to home plate again Sunday. Adding to the throwback feel of the moment was the fact that Dale Scott, who was the home-plate umpire in the Oct. 3, 1993 game, was the crew chief for Sunday's game and met the duo at the plate.

Ryan, now the Rangers' CEO, can't believe has much has transpired in Arlington for the club over the past 20 years.

"You look back and reflect back on what's happened in that time and you just feel blessed that you've been able to stay a part of it," said Ryan.

Brett played in the final game at Arlington Stadium, getting a base hit in his final at-bat. Ryan didn't pitch.
