Hall of Famer Barry Larkin to join Todd Frazier as a 2015 All-Star spokesperson

Hall of Fame shortstop Barry Larkin, a legend of the Cincinnati Reds, a native of the City and a 1990 World Series Champion, has been selected as an official 2015 MLB All-Star spokesperson, joining current Reds All-Star third baseman Todd Frazier.

As an All-Star spokesperson, Larkin will help to generate public awareness for the 86th MLB All-Star Game and its surrounding events and will make a variety of appearances throughout All-Star Week in his hometown of Cincinnati.

In addition to winning nine Silver Slugger Awards (1988-1992, 1995-96, 1998-99) and three Gold Glove Awards (1994-96), Larkin was a 12-time National League All-Star (1988-91, 1993-97, 1999-2000, 2004). He batted .353 in the Reds' four-game sweep of the Oakland Athletics in the 1990 World Series. Larkin was the 1993 recipient of the Roberto Clemente Award, MLB's highest off-field honor, and he earned the 1995 National League Most Valuable Player. In 1996, he set career highs with 33 home runs and 89 RBI, to go along with a .410 on-base percentage, a .567 slugging percentage, 36 stolen bases and 117 runs scored.

Larkin, 51, played collegiate ball at the University of Michigan. He was drafted by the Reds in the first round (fourth overall) of the 1985 amateur draft and spent his entire 19-year career in the Queen City. Larkin was inducted to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2012.

Frazier, 29, is in his fifth season with the Reds. He finished third in 2012 NL Rookie of the Year balloting. In 2014, the Toms River, New Jersey Little League legend made his Midsummer Classic debut in Minnesota and went on to establish career highs in home runs (29), RBI (80), stolen bases (20) and runs scored (88).

MLB All-Star Week at Great American Ball Park includes the 86th MLB All-Star Game (July 14th), Gatorade All-Star Workout Day (July 13th) featuring the Home Run Derby, All-Star Sunday (July 12th), including the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game and the All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game, and T-Mobile All‑Star FanFest at the Duke Energy Convention Center (July 10th-14th).
