MINNEAPOLIS — University of Minnesota football player Ra'Shede Hageman was arrested early Thursday morning on a charge of misdemeanor disorderly conduct, according to Hennepin County jail records.
Hageman, a 6-foor-6, 300-pound defensive end, was released on $50 bail and has a court date scheduled for 8:30 a.m. May 24.
According to team spokesman Garry Bowman, Hageman was attempting to break up a fight that occurred around 2:30 a.m at Sally's Saloon & Eatery near campus. Police arrived and arrested several individuals for disorderly conduct, Bowman said, including Hageman.
Gophers coach Jerry Kill has not released a statement regarding Hageman, and Bowman said the team will handle the situation internally.
"We're trying to get all the details together," Bowman said. "Once we have all that stuff, when Coach has that, they'll handle it internally. We have a policy manual that covers all that kind of stuff. Once Coach knows more, if there's anything for him to deal with, he'll handle it internally."
Hageman, a graduate of Minneapolis Washburn High School, will be a redshirt junior in the Gophers' upcoming 2012 season. During his sophomore year at Minnesota, Hageman played in all 12 games and had 13 tackles and two sacks.
