Grosse Pointe Shores is one of the wealthiest suburbs in the country, and two of its prominent residents own rust-belt NFL franchises that spread the wealth in the last two days.
Lions owner William Clay Ford and Bills owner Ralph Wilson gave contracts to two players that had a combined value of $232 million and $110 guaranteed.
On Wednesday, the Lions extended the contract of wide receiver Calvin Johnson, making it an eight-year, $132 million deal that included $60 million in guarantees. Ford also turned 87 on Wednesday.
On Thursday, the Bills signed free-agent defensive end Mario Williams to a seven-year, $100-million contract, with $50 million guaranteed.
