TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Greg Schiano had little to add when asked to respond to a USA Today report published Saturday that suggests the NFLPA thinks he's the source of Josh Freeman's leaked medical information.
Schiano said, "We as an organization look forward to cooperating with the NFL and the NFLPA," after the Bucs' 31-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium. The report says the NFLPA is seeking a joint investigation with the league that would allow union officials to question Schiano.
Knowledge that Freeman, now with the Minnesota Vikings, is a Stage One participant in the NFL's drug program was published in an ESPN report Sept. 30. Hours later, Freeman revealed in a statement that he lives with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and mistakenly took Ritalin instead of Adderall for the condition. Freeman said he agreed to be voluntarily tested in the NFL program and had passed 46 drug tests.
On Oct. 1, Schiano was asked if he was the source of the leak.
"Absolutely not," the coach said then.
Freeman, the No. 17 overall pick in 2009, signed with the Vikings last Sunday for one year and $3 million following his benching with the Bucs and an ugly divorce.
Tampa Bay fell to 0-5 on Sunday. They have won one game in their past 11 under Schiano dating back to last season.
