Gophers star Banham meets basketball idol Kobe Bryant

Former Gophers women's basketball star Rachel Banham met her basketball idol Kobe Bryant on Wednesday, after a season in which the Lakers star tweeted several congratulatory messages at her.

Bryant first tweeted at Banham after she scored 60 points in a Gophers win over Northwestern. He followed it up with another tweet after she hit a game-winning 3-pointer a week later.

Banham was a first-team All-American and the Big Ten Player of the Year in 2015-16. A Lakeville, Minn., native, Banham finished her five-year career at Minnesota with the sixth-most points in NCAA history with 3,093.
Banham is projected to be a first-round pick in the WNBA Draft on April 14.
