Gophers skaters Seeler, Brodzinski sign with NHL squads

Gophers defenseman Nick Seeler on Saturday signed an entry-level contract with the Minnesota Wild.

Defenseman Michael Brodzinski signed an amateur tryout contract with the San Jose Sharks organization with an entry-level contract following after the season.

Seeler, an Eden Prairie, Minn., native, notched 10 assists in 36 games with a plus-21 rating as well as 91 blocked shots this past season. He finished his college career with 29 points (six goals, 23 assists) in 106 career games.



The Minnesota Wild selected Seeler in the fifth round (131st overall) in the 2011 draft.

Brodzinski made his professional debut on Saturday night with the San Jose Barracuda, the Shark's AHL affiliate.



A native of Ham Lake, Minn., Brodzinski recorded 48 points (18 goals, 30 assists) in 99 career games with Minnesota. He led all Gophers defenseman and finished tied for fourth among Big Ten defensemen with 21 points (eight goals, 13 assists) in 2015-16.

The San Jose Sharks selected Brodzinski in the fifth round (141st overall) of the 2013 draft.
