After sweeping the Huskies this past weekend, the Gophers reclaimed the number one position in the USA Today/USA Hockey poll.
Heading into last weekend’s series against St. Cloud State, the Gophers were the third-ranked team in the nation. The Gophers 2-1 victory at home Friday night, followed by a 3-2 win on the road Saturday catapulted the team back into the top spot in the country.
Minnesota held the number one spot in the poll earlier this season for a two-week period, and have stayed in the top five for the last 13 weeks. The Gophers began the season unranked in the USA Today/USA Hockey poll, and 19th in the USCHO.com poll.
