The Minnesota Golden Gophers overcame another slow start as they defeated Akron 66-58 Wednesday at Williams Arena.

Minnesota, who is ranked No. 20 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll, improved to 10-1 with the victory. Akron fell to 4-4.
