The University of Minnesota football team dismissed seldom-used wide receiver Ge’Shun Harris, the school announced Thursday.

According to multiple reports, the 20-year-old Harris was charged with financial transaction card fraud after he took a credit card from a bag at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport. The card was then reportedly used to make purchases at several locations, including a gas station and Macy’s.

“We had no idea about this situation until today,” coach Jerry Kill said Thursday in a statement. “Based on our team policies and the way we run our program, Ge’Shun Harris was immediately dismissed from our football program. Every member of our team is well aware of our expectations of them and how we enforce our team policies.”

According to the release, Kill wasn’t made aware of the charges against Harris until Thursday. The charges were filed on March 5.

Harris transferred to Minnesota after spending two seasons at Arizona Western College. He made just one catch last season, a 28-yarder against Michigan State.
