COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Jordan Smith went 3 for 3 with a home run and three runs scored helping second-seeded Minnesota top Binghamton 8-5 on Saturday in an NCAA Tournament College Station Regional elimination game.

Minnesota will face the Texas A&M-Wake Forest loser on Sunday in another elimination game.

Tied at 5-5 after five innings, Minnesota (36-20) picked up two more runs in the sixth. Smith started the rally with a single and scored on Toby Hanson's triple. Hanson then scored on Alex Boxwell's sacrifice fly to center. Smith homered in the eighth for an insurance run.

Ty McDevitt tossed 3 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, allowing just one hit and one walk, and Jordan Jess picked up the save with a perfect ninth inning.
