Good scents: Badgers to have own branded candle

Good scents: Badgers to have own branded candle

Have you ever been home alone on a cold, blustery night so definitive of midwestern winters and wished you had a candle to keep you company. Better yet, don't you wish that candle shared your love of the Badgers?
Turns out you're in luck as Yankee Candle has launched a college-themed line that includes Wisconsin as one of the universities with its own candle.
The 22-ounce jar candle thankfully won't be smelling like a badger, though, and instead will have a Macintosh apple aroma that is so "vividly real you can almost taste the unmistakable crunch." Leave aside the fact that crunch is not an adjective usually associated with taste, this candle will set fans' pocketbooks back a bit as it is currently listed at $27.99.
Wisconsin will be one of just four Big Ten schools to have a distinctive candle, along with Illinois, Ohio State and Michigan State. In all, 23 universities will be represented. As is usually the case come football season, the SEC led the way with all but two (Mississippi State and Vanderbilt) of their members getting their own candle.
Lest you laugh too much at this, Wisconsin ranked 13th in the country in team merchandise sales, the second best mark in the conference. The little ‘W' makes a big impact.
Candles may be a bit out of the average fan's wheelhouse, but when it comes to scents, the nose knows if this will be a winner.
