Pitcher Marco Gonzales' time with the big-league club has come to an end, at least for now.
The Cardinals announced after Monday's game, which the club lost 4-3 to the Boston Red Sox, that the left-hander has been optioned to Triple A Memphis, reducing the number of players in camp to 40.
The team's spring roster currently stands at 20 pitchers (one non-roster), four catchers (one non-roster), 10 infielders (two non-roster) and six outfielders (two non-roster).
