The Arizona Diamondbacks announced Wednesday the promotion of Carlos Gomez to director, international scouting, according to Jerry Dipoto, senior vice president, scouting and player development.

The Puerto Rican native will oversee the scouting of amateur players in Latin America, Europe and Asia after serving as a professional scout in the organization since joining the club in November 2007. Gomez filed reports on Major League players and high-level minor leaguers as well as taking trips to Latin America to scout international players as a professional scout.
