On one of the hottest streaks of his career, Carlos Gomez earned some hardware for his successes.
Gomez was named National League co-player of the week for July 23-29, sharing the honor with Reds centerfielder Drew Stubbs.
Hitting .346 (9-for-26) for the week, Gomez also blasted four home runs, drove in 10 runs and scored 10 runs, while stealing three bases.
The torrid stretch has raised Gomez's season batting average to .248 and he has now hit nine home runs and has driven in 28 runs.
It is the first career player of the week award for Gomez and he's the first Brewer to win the award since Prince Fielder was the player of the week in the National League last June.
