With two days left in All-Star voting, Diamondbacks slugger Paul Goldschmidt has pulled more than one million votes ahead in balloting for the National League's starting first baseman.
The latest tallies released by Major League Baseball on Tuesday show Goldschmidt with 2.58 million votes, well clear of Milwaukee's Mark Reynolds, who has moved into second place with 1.43 million. Early leader Adrian Gonzalez of the Dodgers is now third with 1.41 million.
The other leaders in National League voting are catcher Yadier Molina of St. Louis, second baseman Chase Utley of Philadelphia, third baseman Aramis Ramirez of Milwaukee, shortstop Troy Tulowitzki of Colorado and outfielders Andrew McCutchen of Pittsburgh, Carlos Gomez of Milwaukee and Yasiel Puig of Los Angeles.
The closest voting is at third base, where Ramirez leads New York's David Wright by 235,000 votes; outfield, where Puig has a margin of 320,00 votes over Miami's Giancarlo Stanton; and catcher, where Molina leads Milwaukee Jonathan Lucroy by 464,000 votes.
Fans can cast their votes for starters at MLB.com and azdiamondbacks.com until 11:59 p.m. ET on Thursday.
The top vote-getters in the American League are Baltimore catcher Matt Wieters, Detroit first baseman Miguel Cabrera, Seattle second baseman Robinson Cano, Oakland third baseman Josh Donaldson, New York shortstop Derek Jeter, outfielders Jose Bautista of Toronto, Mike Trout of Los Angeles and Yoenis Cespedes of Oakland, and designated hitter Nelson Cruz of Baltimore.
Cespedes has the slimmest margin -- only 12,000 votes more than Toronto's Melky Cabrera. Wieters has a lead of less than 200,000 on Oakland catcher Derek Norris.
The All-Star Game will be played at Target Field in Minneapolis on Tuesday, July 15, and be televised by FOX.
