Godfrey, UCF top Memphis 37-17, head to title game

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Jeff Godfrey passed for 252 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for another score as Central Florida defeated Memphis 37-17 on Saturday.

The Knights (9-3, 7-1 Conference USA) will host Southern Methodist on Dec. 4 in the league's championship game.

Latavius Murray ran for two UCF touchdowns, including a 7-yarder to make it 23-7, four plays after the Tigers (1-11, 0-8) fumbled the second-half kickoff. Murray carried 16 times for 75 yards.

UCF put the game out of reach in the fourth quarter when Godfrey hooked up with Jamar Newsome for scoring passes of 56 and 23 yards. Godfrey completed 14 of 17 passes, including four to Newsome for 118 yards. The freshman quarterback also rushed 13 times for 34 yards.

Ryan Williams of Memphis completed 21 of 34 passes for two touchdowns, but he was sacked four times and intercepted once.
