Germany wins ski jump World Cup team event

Severin Freund soared 135 meters in his second jump to seal Germany's victory in the opening event of the ski jump World Cup season on Saturday.
Freund, Markus Eisenbichler, Richard Freitag and Andreas Wellinger combined for a team total of 1098.0 points, ahead of Japan on 1068.9 and Norway on 1061.2.

Germany coach Werner Schuster says, "They all jumped like they were unleashed. It was fantastic and a deserved win."
Norway's Anders Fannemel had the longest jump of the day at 144 meters.
An individual competition is scheduled for Sunday.
