Gators QB Tyler Murphy reportedly transferring to BC
Tyler Murphy, who started six games for Florida in 2013, is transferring to Boston College, according to a number of media outlets.
The Connecticut native stepped in when Jeff Driskel broke his leg on Sept. 21 at Tennessee and led Florida to a win over the Volunteers. He then guided Florida to wins at Kentucky and Arkansas before the Gators struggled and fell to LSU, Missouri, Georgia and Vanderbilt. A shoulder injury ended his season.
The junior has graduated and would be eligible to play in 2014 for Boston College, which is coached by former Florida assistant Steve Addazio. Boston College is looking for a new quarterback after senior Chase Rettig graduated.
Murphy threw for 1,216 yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions in 2013. He also ran for 270 yards and three touchdowns.
