A federal prosecutor in Puerto Rico says a prominent jockey has been arrested on charges of failing to pay thousands of dollars in child support for two of his children.
Julio Garcia is accused of owing more than $165,000 for support of two 16-year-old children.
US Attorney Rosa Emilia Rodriguez said Tuesday that Garcia was arrested the night before at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey.
Garcia recently won the Lexington Stakes. In addition to being a top rider in Puerto Rico, Garcia has ridden regularly on the Southern California and Florida circuits at various points of his career.
