'Game of Thrones' author George R.R. Martin rips refs for picking up flag in Cowboys game
The sports world is still burning after a controversial flag was picked up by the refs in the Cowboys' win over the Lions on Sunday.
Conspiracy theorists and Cowboys haters are out in full force, and one famous author is calling for blood: Game of Thrones mastermind George R.R. Martin.
Though not a Lions fan, Martin said in his blog that he would have been livid if he was:
If I was a Detroit Lions fan, I'd be screaming for referee blood about that.
Picking up that flag on a FLAGRANT pass interference by Dallas in the fourth quarter was the worse call... or non-call... the NFL has seen since... well... since the non-call on the botched field goal attempt in the Giants/ 49ers playoff game ages ago.
Shocking. Really shocking.
Referee Pete Morelli picked up a flag that would have given the Lions a first down with just over eight minutes to go in the fourth quarter. There was a lot of ball game left, but the play certainly didn't help.
The outrage is still palpable today, but Martin, whose best-selling books have been turned into a hit HBO show, ended on this note.
"One for the books," he penned.
We see what you did there.
