Game delayed as fans throw trash on field

A scary situation has unfolded at Turner Field as the Cardinals have left the field and the wild card showdown has been halted due to fans throwing bottles of soda and beer onto the field.

The controversy began when a questionable infield fly call was made by left field umpire Sam Holbrook on a fly ball that dropped between left fielder Matt Holliday and shortstop Pete Kozma.

Instead of having the bases loaded and one out with the Cardinals leading 6-3, the Braves instead were left with two outs and runners at second and third.

Fans immediately began heaving bottles and trash onto the field from as high as the upper deck as Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez rushed out to argue the call.

The umpires stood near second base to avoid the trash, which covered the field and took nearly ten minutes to clean up.
