CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- The threat of bad weather has forced the postponement of Monday night’s final game in the South Carolina-North Carolina super regional series.
The deciding game in the best-of-3 series is scheduled for Tuesday at noon and will be televised by ESPN2.
A tornado watch was in effect for the Chapel Hill area and surrounding counties until late Monday night, while forecasters also expected scattered thunderstorms and showers.
Rain forced the postponement of Friday’s series opener to Saturday. The No. 1 overall seed Tar Heels (56-10) won that game 6-5, but the Gamecocks (43-19) won 8-0 on Sunday.
North Carolina sophomore right-hander Benton Moss (8-1) and South Carolina freshman lefty Jack Wynkoop (7-3) are scheduled to start the game, which will send the winner to the College World Series.
