TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State has lost backup quarterback Jacob Coker for the rest of the regular season to a knee injury he suffered in the rout of Wake Forest on Saturday.

Coach Jimbo Fisher said it was a meniscus injury but he's not sure of the severity. Coker will have surgery on Tuesday. It's possible that Coker could return for Florida State's bowl game.

Coker was noticeably limping in the second half of the Seminoles' 59-3 win over the Demon Deacons. He had entered the game early in the second half with Florida State ahead 49-0.

A redshirt sophomore, Coker completed 4 of 9 passes for 37 yards against Wake Forest. He was sacked twice while playing behind Florida State's inexperienced No. 2 offensive line.

Coker completed 18 of 36 passes for 250 yards and an interception this season. He was expected to see significant playing time in mop-up duty as Florida State faces Syracuse (5-4) on Saturday and then Idaho (1-9) the next week.

Now Florida State's No. 3 quarterback Sean Maguire, will be elevated to the backup spot behind Jameis Winston.

Fisher said that three Florida State starters will return to the practice field Monday afternoon. Safety Terrence Brooks, who missed the Wake game with a concussion, will practice. Center Bryan Stork, who missed the game with an ankle injury, will also practice. And wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin, who had a concussion in the first half against Wake, will also practice.
