COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Florida freshman Skyler Mornhinweg will start for injured quarterback Tyler Murphy against No. 11 South Carolina on Saturday night.

Murphy sprained his throwing shoulder against LSU last month and was sore after last week's loss to Vanderbilt. Gators offensive coordinator Brent Pease had said all week Murphy's status wouldn't be known until game time.

Mornhinweg is the son of New York Jets offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg. Sklyer Mornhinweg had not played before this week.

The Gators also said that starting cornerback Marcus Roberson would not play because of a violation of team rules. The junior has played in six games this season and has made 11 tackles.
