New Mexico State wide receiver Austin Franklin was named the Western Athletic Conference offensive player of the week.
Franklin, a sophomore from Dallas, set career highs with eight receptions for 236 yards and two touchdowns in New Mexico State's season-opening 49-19 win over Sacramento State. The 236 yards are the third most in school history and the most by a WAC receiver since 2006.
The Aggies return to action Saturday with a road game at Ohio University. Ohio opened its season by winning at Penn State.
