Francona expects 'all the good' of Boston to 'come pouring out'
CLEVELAND -- Terry Francona managed eight Patriots' Day games when he was with the Red Sox. With Monday being the first Boston Marathon to be run since last year's tragic bombing, Francona said on Sunday that he knows how much of a special day it will be for everyone involved.
Said Francona: "I would imagine it would be electric. All the good that comes with Boston will probably come pouring out tomorrow for obvious reasons. It's a city and region that is collectively showing their strength out of something that was disastrous. What's going to happen is a lot of good is going to come out of that because of something kind of tragic. I am pulling for it to be a wonderful day for everyone involved."
Patriots' Day also carries other significance for Francona. It was during the 1990 game as a member of the Milwaukee Brewers that he had his final Major League at-bat. Francona flied out to deep center.
