FOX Sports Southwest to televise Spurs NBA Championship celebration
Fox Sports Southwest, the local television home of the 2014 NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs, will televise the team's victory parade and celebration on Wednesday, June 18 from downtown San Antonio.
The 2014 Spurs Championship Celebration presented by H-E-B and BBVA Compass begins at 6:00 p.m. CT with a parade on the city's famed River Walk and continues at 9:00 p.m. CT when the celebration moves to the Alamodome for a special ceremony.
FOX Sports Southwest will provide continuous coverage of both events.
Ric Renner will anchor the four-hour SPURS LIVE championship program block. FOX Sports Southwest Spurs announcers Bill Land and Sean Elliott will host the river parade with FOX Sports Southwest's Erin Hartigan reporting from the parade route.
Barges will carry Spurs players and coaches, Spurs officials, former Spurs players, San Antonio City and Bexar County officials, live musical entertainers and others down the San Antonio River.
The Alamodome celebration will feature Spurs players, coaches and local officials addressing fans and showing off the latest championship trophy.
Between events, FOX Sports Southwest will highlight and recap the Spurs' championship season, including the finals series victory over the Miami Heat that brought San Antonio its fifth NBA title.
The live championship victory celebration caps off FOX Sports Southwest's season-long Spurs coverage that included 60 regular-season telecasts, six first-round playoff games and special postgame shows after every postseason game in the team's road to the title.
This also marks the third time FOX Sports Southwest has televised a Spurs championship parade. Previous parade coverage on FOX Sports Southwest included celebrations for the 2005 and 2007 NBA championships.
