FOX Sports 1 Fan Express makes stop at Kentucky's Fort Campbell
By BRITTANY MOMAH
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- The FOX Sports 1 Fan Express made a stop at Fort Campbell in Kentucky on Monday as the the FOX Sports Girls, with Jordana representing Florida, and Cleatus visited the U.S. Army base.
With a 4:45 a.m. wake-up time, Jordana and the girls greeted Fort Campbell soldiers for an early morning personal training session. The workout, which consisted of running, tire flips and rope climbing, proved to be an eye-opening experience for Jordana.
"Even a 30-minute workout with them gave me a sense of what they do every day," Jordana explained. "Blood, sweat and tears are their norm and their reality, but they are so proud of what they do. I'm very grateful for that."
After breakfast with the soldiers, the Girls were launched back into some intense training with an obstacle course competition. Jordana was paired with Teryn (FOX Sports Midwest Girl), Stephanie (FOX Sports Detroit Girl), Frankie Hejduk (former MLS player), Jose Tolentino (former MLB player and current FOX Deportes broadcaster) and four Fort Campbell soldiers. A two minute, 35 second completion time got them the win, and also earned the soldiers a spot at a nice dinner that evening with the FOX Sports Girls.
The physical activity was put on hold for lunch at The Zone, a local sports bar, with the soldiers and Cleatus before a visit to Fort Campbell High School to chat with the students. Later, the Girls traveled to the Air Assault School, where they were given a tour and learned the requirements necessary to pass. One of those requirements involves repelling a 40-foot wall, which Jordana was able to do.
"I was so nervous to jump off the wall," Jordana admitted. "But I knew I could trust our soldiers and that they would catch me if I fell."
After a long day, Jordana and the Girls had dinner with the winning soldiers as well as a few Fort Campbell officials.
The next stop on the epic FOX Sports 1 Fan Express ‘Road to Launch' is Cincinnati, Ohio, for a Reds viewing party. Throughout the rest of the week the bus will make various stops across the country, visiting ballparks and arenas, until it parks in Boston, Mass., for the launch of FOX Sports 1 on Saturday.
