Four-star guard commits to Cincinnati
Mick Cronin picked up his highest-rated recruit yet for 2015 on Tuesday with the verbal commitment of Baton Rouge (La.) St. Michael the Archangel guard Jacob Evans.
A Scout.com four-star recruit, Jacobs chose the Bearcats over South Carolina. Others to receive strong consideration were Auburn, Tulane and his hometown LSU Tigers.
"This is a good pickup for Cincinnati," Scout.com national recruiting analyst Brian Snow told FOX Sports Ohio. "He is a good athlete and someone who can really score from all points on the court. Evans has long arms and is a tough kid with upside. He is the exact kid that Mick Cronin has been very successful with."
According to TigerSportsDigest.com, Evans averaged 17.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game as a junior.
"I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the program and like that I'll have the opportunity to compete for playing time as a freshman," Evans told TSD via text message.
Evans is rated the No. 19 small forward in the country and No. 100 overall. He is the third player to commit to UC for the 2015 class, joining three-star prospects Tre Scott, a power forward from Darien (Ga.) MacIntosh County Academy and Justin Jenifer, a point guard from Bel Air (Md.) John Carroll School.
