Former MMA fighter 'Ginja Ninja' chases down and hog-ties would-be bank robber
A former MMA fighter reportedly put his skills to use on Friday, chasing down and humbling a man who attempted to rob a Grow Financial Credit Union branch near Tampa, Fla.
The would-be robber apparently ended up getting hog-tied by the fighter, Eric "Ginga Ninja" Haritakis, who was looking to make a deposit for his health-foods company when the robbery unfolded.
"The teller was empty," said Haritakis, whose nickname was inspired by his red hair and quickness, according to My Fox Tampa Bay. "She yelled to the other woman across the bank, 'Hey, that guy just robbed me' . . . and I just kind of ran out of the door."
Haritakis explains in the video above that he took down 31-year-old Michael Jon Neubecker by tripping him from behind and then tackling him, basically.
"I see the guy bringing a guy back with his hands behind his back and almost carrying him," said Kristin Drexler, an employee at the UPS. "I was just amazed at how down-to-earth [Haritakis] was. He was just so nonchalant about the fact that he just chased down a bank robber."
Moral of the story? Duct tape is the most perfect and versatile invention ever.
