Former Marquette guard Trent Lockett has signed a free-agent contract with the Sacramento Kings, the team announced Wednesday.
After playing his senior season at the school, Lockett becomes the eighth player from Marquette to sign an NBA contract in the past five seasons.
Lockett played for the Kings in summer league, averaging 7.0 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 20.2 minutes per game. The 6-foot-5, 210 pound guard shot 46.4 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from beyond the arc.
Transferring to Marquette after playing three years at Arizona State, Lockett was eligible to play immediately because he had already graduated. Lockett had to transition from being the go-to scorer for the Sun Devils to a role player with the Golden Eagles, but he did so and became an integral piece of Marquette’s Elite Eight team.
Lockett averaged 7.0 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 41.5 percent from the field and 33.3 percent on 3-pointers in his lone season in Milwaukee.
