The Milwaukee Brewers' Double-A affiliate, the Huntsville Stars, made history Thursday, as five of their pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter in a 3-1 victory over Chattanooga.

It represented the most pitchers used in a no-hitter in Southern League history.

Right-hander Jimmy Nelson got the start and was followed on the mound by teammates Dan Merklinger, R.J. Seidel, Brandon Kintzler and Darren Byrd.

Nelson produced four strikeouts in four innings to get things rolling for Huntsville before giving way to the cadre of relievers. Kintzler preserved the Stars' big night by striking out a lone batter in the ninth to record a save.

Also noteworthy: Huntsville pitchers combined to yield 11 walks to Chattanooga batters.

It was Huntsville's first no-hitter since David Welch pitched one on June 2, 2008, in a seven-inning contest against Chattanooga.
