FIU over Florida College 64-42
MIAMI, Fla. (AP) -- Dennis Mavin scored 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds as Florida International beat Florida College 64-42 in the season opener for both teams Friday night.
Dominique Williams had 11 points with eight rebounds and Adrian Diaz chipped in 11 points, five rebounds and five blocks for the Golden Panthers. The team hit 52 percent from the field and 33 percent from the line.
The Golden Panthers dominated throughout the game and had a 33-14 lead at the break. The Falcons struggled from the field, sinking just 28 percent. They were marginally better from the line, hitting 43 percent and went 0 of 13 from three-point territory.
Dennis Gravely led Florida College with 16 points on 7-of-15 shooting with 12 rebounds and a pair of steals.
