About 75 firefighters are battling a blaze in downtown Los Angeles as heavy black smoke billows out of a large, single-story building.
The fire at 1200 S. Hope St. was reported about 1:37 p.m., said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott.
The pre-1933 structure covers an area of 75 feet by 125 feet, Scott said. Additional firefighters were responding to the scene.
Authorities have blocked off southbound Hope Street at 11th Street.
