A filly from prolific stallion Galileo has been bought for more than $2 million as sales at a prestigious British racehorse auctioneers defied the tough economic climate.
Irish racing tycoon John Magnier purchased the unnamed 1-year-old filly for $2.2 million Wednesday at Tattersalls in Newmarket, a racing stronghold in eastern England.
Frankel, currently the world's top-ranked horse, was also sired by Galileo - a former winner of the English and Irish derbies.
Camelot, a double English classic winner in 2012, was bought for what would now be around $880,000 in the 2010 yearling sales at Tattersalls.
