Fantasy Fox: 20 fun facts to ponder for Week 15
Here are 20 whimsical factoids — some positive, some negative — to digest before the Sunday/Monday slate of Week 15 games:
1. Of his seven indoors games this season, including a Week 2 roadie with Arizona, Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford (3,976 yards passing, 29 total TDs) boasts supreme averages of 336 yards passing and 2.4 touchdowns.
2. Of his last three games, Chiefs tailback Jamaal Charles (1,621 total yards, 13 TDs) holds robust averages of 145 total yards and 1.7 touchdowns; and against the Raiders in Week 6, Charles rolled for 128 yards and two scores.
3. The white-hot Josh Gordon boasts absurd averages of nine catches, 14 targets, 193 yards and 1.3 TDs in his last four games.
Gordon has also averaged 11 targets and 98 yards receiving against NFC North clubs this season.
4. Of his 18 career starts and 37 appearances over eight NFL seasons, Rams quarterback Kellen Clemens has never thrown for 300 yards or produced three touchdowns in a single outing.
5. Fresh off his franchise-record-breaking day in the snow last week, Eagles tailback LeSean McCoy draws a Sunday date with the Vikings, who have yielded an average of 142 team rushing yards in their last five games.
Plus, McCoy has racked up 100 total yards and/or one TD in each of his last five games.
6. Dez Bryant, who's on the precipice of matching last year's 12 touchdowns, has accounted for 100 yards or one TD in four of his last seven games.
The Cowboys wideout is also due for an outing of double-digit targets and 100 yards against the Packers. Against NFC North foes this year, Dez has three TDs.
7. Hot-and-cold Cardinals wideout Michael Floyd (56 catches, 886 yards, four TDs) has developed a touchdown-on/touchdown-off pattern for eight consecutive games (or four rotations).
And using history as our guide, he's due for roughly five catches, eight targets, 91 yards and one touchdown against the Titans.
8. This nugget comes courtesy of The Steve Czaban Show on Yahoo Sports Radio:
The Colts haven't scored a single touchdown in the first half of their last six games, settling for eight Adam Vinatieri field goals during this span of early ineptitude.
Incidentally, Indy has notched 22 or more points in four of those six games.
9. Of his last six outings on the road, Seahawks tailback Marshawn Lynch (1,276 total yards, 12 TDs) has rolled for 100 total yards or one touchdown five times.
Plus, he collected 131 total yards and one score in his last meeting with with the Giants.
10. No Browns tailback has rushed for 100 yards in 20 games.
The last one to do it? Current Colts back Trent Richardson rolled for 105 rushing yards against the Ravens in November 2012.
11. There is some trepidation with Drew Brees's elite-level ranking for the week. Of his three career outings at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, Brees holds eminently pedestrian averages of 210 yards passing and one touchdown.
12. From Weeks 7-13, spanning six games, Calvin Johnson (75 catches, 1,351 yards, 12 TDs) racked up six double-digit outings, five 100-yard outings and eight touchdowns.
13. Colin Kaepernick has been less than stellar against NFC South foes in his career, averaging 185 total yards and 1.3 touchdowns in four starts.
14. Niners tailback Frank Gore, who rushed for 110 yards against the Seahawks last week, strangely hasn't logged 20 or more touches in seven weeks.
15. For what it's worth, Panthers QB Cam Newton (2,776 yards passing, 26 total TDs) has accounted for multiple touchdowns in his last eight games against AFC foes.
16. Cowboys QB Tony Romo, who efficiently logged three scores last week off only 104 yards passing, has crossed the threshold of 300 yards passing and/or three TDs in eight of his last 11 home games.
17. There's a good news/bad news angle to Matt Forte's elite-level endorsement for Week 15:
For the season, Forte has already reached the threshold of 100 total yards and/or one touchdown 11 times. On the flip side, Forte hasn't tallied a rushing score in five games.
17b. Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson, who scored against the Lions in last week's blizzard, has already registered games of back-to-back touchdowns three times this season.
For good measure, Jackson also draws the NFL's 30th-ranked pass defense (Vikings) indoors on Sunday.
18. Saints tailback Darren Sproles has only tallied three games of 100-plus total yards in the last 12 months. Of equal importance, he has just seven outings of six or more targets this season.
19. The Cowboys defense has allowed staggering averages of 306 yards passing in their last 10 games.
However, the Dallas unit has given up only 18 passing touchdowns in that span (1.8 per outing).
And last but not least ...
20. Here's a good news/bad news proposition involving Ben Roethlisberger:
Big Ben has tossed 16 touchdowns in his last six games, tying his personal-best mark for TD passes in a six-game stretch (along with 2007).
On the flip side, the Steelers QB has averaged just 236 yards passing and one score in his last six meetings with the Bengals (this week's opponent).
