Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Additions August 15th

If you're new to this feature, here are the ground rules.

No player in this space will be mentioned in back-to-back weeks, as we don't want to spam you with the same choices over and over again. We'll also limit the waiver wire suggestions to players owned in fewer than 40 percent of FOXSports.com leagues. Got it? Let's get to this week's pickups:

Catcher

Sandy Leon, BOS (21.6% owned)

Raise your hand if you knew Leon was batting .389 this year? He's flown under the radar, even on the Red Sox, primarily because he's missed a lot of time and is still sharing catcher duties with others. Even with that in mind, though, you can stash Leon on your bench and play him whenever he starts. That strategy has worked lately, as Leon is 9-for-16 over his last seven games.

First Baseman

Mitch Moreland, TEX (32.8% owned)

Moreland has remained hot after the Rangers lost Prince Fielder. Over his last 27 games, Moreland is slashing .329/.375/.707 and is now up to 20 HR on the year after his latest tear. Given the park he plays in and he's solidified role, Moreland's hot bat can help you down the stretch this season.

Second Baseman

Logan Forsythe, TB (35.8% owned)

He's been on this list as much as anyone, but now is a particularly good time to invest. Forsythe is 9-for-23 with 3 HR over his last seven games, and he's slashing .353/.433/.627 in the month of August. He's also batting leadoff for the Rays, which gives him the opportunity to score plenty of runs. With his dual 1B/2B eligibility, he's a great bench piece, especially since he mashes against lefties.

Third Baseman

Josh Harrison, PIT (39.4% owned)

He's taken over the leadoff spot for Pittsburgh, which means he has some big bats behind him to help his run total. Harrison also provides some speed (15 SB this year) and he's hitting particularly well as of late, going 9-for-25 over his last seven games. As long as he's hitting leadoff in this lineup, he's probably worthy of a fantasy starting position at either third or second base.

Shortstop

Jedd Gyorko. STL (15.9% owned)

You'll have to be smart about when you play him, but Gyorko is killing right-handed pitching this year and has eligibility at every infield spot except for catcher. He's a great depth addition for that reason, and his 17 HR on the season offers some power at shortstop that can be a little tough to find elsewhere.

Outfield

Travis Janikowski, SD (6.2% owned)

This one is only if you need some help in the speed category. Janikowski has been burning up the basepaths this season, piling up 25 stolen bases in just 197 at-bats. With an everyday role in hand, and a healthy .369 OBP, the swiped bags should continue to roll in. He won't provide any power, but his speed is a real asset.

Starting Pitcher

Kevin Gausman, BAL (25% owned)

You'll have to be selective, but Gausman is a strikeout per inning guy who has been much better than his record would lead you to believe. With dual RP/SP eligibility, you can sneak in an extra start by adding Gausman, who has been a monster at home (2.39 ERA) all year. He's a sneaky good addition.

Relief Pitcher

Tony Watson, PIT (28.6% owned)

He's converted five of his last six save opportunities, giving him a firm hold on the closer duties in Pittsburgh. Watson isn't a monster strikeout guy, but he'll get lots of save chances and won't make very many mistakes. His ownership should be significantly higher than this.
