Entering this season, one of the big question marks for the Falcons was the defensive line, the interior in particular.
Jonathan Babineaux could be counted on as a strong performer, but with 2009 first-round pick Peria Jerry going down for the season in Week 2, the Falcons rotated a number of players at the other tackle spot with limited effectiveness -- Thomas Johnson, Vance Walker and Trey Lewis among them.
Whether Jerry, coming off knee surgery, would reach the potential in 2010 that made him a first-round pick seemed to play a strong role in whether the defense could improve over last year
