Eye of the beholder: Giancarlo Stanton steps into role as Miss Universe judge
Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton finished as the National League's home run king and MVP runner-up in 2014. He also made the All-Star team before signing a record-breaking $325 million contract in the fall.
On Sunday night, Stanton put something else on his growing resume: judge at this year's Miss Universe Pageant, held in Doral, Florida.
When asked what qualities he was looking for in Miss Universe, Stanton responded: "Overall personality, the way you present yourself. Just be natural with it, have fun and look forward to being the next Miss Universe. That's what it's all about."
Stanton joined the likes of Emilio Estefan, William Levy, Manny Pacquiao, DeSean Jackson and others as judges in the 63rd installment of the competition.
When each of the five finalists picked a question to be asked by a judge in the second-to-last round, the contestant from the Netherlands chose Stanton's. He asked what she would like to see be the biggest change for young women in the next generation.
