Great (and brief!) conversation between C.J. Nitkowski and Gabe Kapler, talking about 41-year-old Bartolo Colon, who made it through waivers ... presumably because he's going to earn $11 million next season when he's 42. Should that matter, though?
I love the Greg Maddux comparison, which reminds me of something I noticed yesterday when writing about Colon (and LaTroy Hawkins): When Maddux was 41, he was still good, going 14-11 with solid peripherals. Even at 42, in his last season, Maddux made 33 starts and finished with the eighth-best strikeout-to-walk ratio in the National League.
I'm with these guys; I don't see any reason to believe that Colon won't be worth $11 million next year.
