Former Kentucky basketball player Michael Porter was arrested early Tuesday and jailed in Lexington, Ky., on sexual abuse charges.

Porter, a point guard who played for the Wildcats from 2006 to 2009, was charged with six counts of sodomy and two counts of sexual abuse, WLEX-TV in Lexington reported.

According to court documents, Porter allegedly engaged in inappropriate contact with a minor on several occasions while he served as a group leader at a church in 2009 and 2010 when the victim was 14 and 15 years old.

Porter, 25, had one season of eligibility remaining when he left Kentucky in 2009, saying at the time that he wanted to spend more time with his wife and child. The California native averaged 2.7 points in 90 career games
