Eurobasket update: Rough day for Suns
The latest round of Eurobasket play wasn’t exactly kind to the participating Suns.
Goran Dragic, who led host Slovenia to three wins in its first three games, contributed 23 points and eight rebounds in a 76-74 overtime loss to Croatia. The Dragon – who was just 6 of 19 from the field – added five assists and committed one turnover.
It was more of the same (although a bit worse) for center Marcin Gortat, who was only 1 of 5 from the floor in a two-point, six-rebound effort during Poland’s 89-53 loss to Spain. Team Poland is 0-4 in group play.
Slava Kravtsov, the Suns’ fourth-string center, played 12 minutes (scoring three points and collecting two rebounds and four blocks) for Ukraine in a 77-71 loss to France. It was Ukraine’s first loss in four games.
