Eun Jeong Seong wins U.S. Girls' Junior, beats Angel Yin 3 and 2

TULSA, Okla. -- South Korea's Eun Jeong Seong won the U.S. Girls' Junior on Saturday, beating Angel Yin 3 and 2 in hot conditions at Tulsa Country Club.

The 15-year-old Seong finished off the match with a par on the par-5 34th hole. She was second last year in the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links.

"I'm happy. I'm very happy," Seong said. "I thank my mom, who is in Korea. She cannot sleep because she's watching the cellphone. She said every day, `Cheer up, cheer up and enjoy playing.'"

Seong led all but two holes. After the 16-year-old Yin, from Arcadia, California, won the first hole with a birdie, Seong took the second with a birdie and won the next two for a 2-up lead.

"The first 18 was tough," Yin said. "I don't think I played that well, and I kind of just -- estimating my score, I was like 3 over. I can say that was like the worst round I played all week."

The players walked together on several holes, sharing an umbrella in the hot conditions.

"I know I have the game because I've been fixing it, and then I came here, and then the heat took me," Yin said. "I'm physically not up with this, especially with the weather."
