England to go ahead with Bangladesh tour despite July attack
LONDON (AP) England will go ahead with its tour of Bangladesh as scheduled later this year, despite an attack in the capital Dhaka last month by radical Islamists that left 20 people dead.
The England and Wales Cricket Board issued a statement on Thursday saying that ''England's tour of Bangladesh will continue as planned'' after ''a full assessment of facilities and operations in both Bangladesh and India was made this month.''
England is due to play two test matches and three one-day internationals, in Dhaka and Chittagong, from Oct. 7 to Nov. 1.
Five gunmen attacked a Dhaka restaurant on the night of July 1, killing 20 people and holding others inside hostage. Security forces stormed the restaurant on July 2, killing the gunmen and rescuing the remaining 13 hostages.
