LONDON (AP) Surrey offspinner Gareth Batty is back in England's test squad for the first time in 11 years for the tour of Bangladesh next month.
Batty was picked on Friday, and will turn 39 a week before the first test in Chittagong on Oct. 20.
He was one of four spinners in the 17-man test party, along with uncapped left-armer Zafar Ansari, a Surrey teammate. They back up Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid.
The other two uncapped players in the squad were expected: Teenage batsman Hasseb Hameed, who will be Alastair Cook's latest opening partner after Alex Hales withdrew because of security concerns, and Ben Duckett, who also made the one-day international squad.
There were also test recalls for fast bowler Mark Wood, who had left ankle surgery in December and April and has come back strong in limited-overs matches, and for wicketkeeper Jos Buttler, out of the squad for nearly a year. He's also the stand-in captain for the ODI squad after Eoin Morgan withdrew last week for the same reasons as Hales.
