Dunn becomes Baylor's career scoring leader in win
LaceDarius Dunn became Baylor's career scoring leader with 17 points in a 64-50 victory over Wayland Baptist on Tuesday night in a game that meant little else for either team.
Dunn has 2,196 points, surpassing Terry Teagle's 2,189 points scored for the Bears from 1979-82. Dunn is 61 points from breaking Andre Emmett's Big 12 record of 2,256.
It was the final nonconference game of the regular season for Baylor (17-8), and won't factor in the Bears' RPI rating.
The game was considered an exhibition for Wayland, an NAIA team from Texas, so the loss won't count against its record.
Wayland led 6-5 after Johnny Terra's 3-pointer 3 minutes into the game. Dunn then missed a 3-pointer, but J'mison Morgan grabbed the rebound for a putback basket and the Bears led for good. It was 38-24 at halftime after A.J. Walton's fastbreak layup.
